Process of my Nutcracker Poster

This is a poster I made of one of my favorite childhood stories. I scanned my process along the way so I thought I would share it with you all! It was an experiment for me!

First I did some finalized drawings after figuring out my general idea. I wanted to include the Sugar Plum Fairy with food objects to represent each of the dances in the Land of the Sweets.
I decided on the second drawing so I fully inked it.

I then scanned it into photoshop and figured out my colors and text. I was required to use limited color.

Then I finalized the composition in photoshop and printed it out.

I spray paint my large board purple and transfer the drawing onto it. I seal the spray paint with matte medium and then start to lay in the white paint and ink

I continue to paint in the color in acrylic and carefully paint in the text.

I remove the tape and it reveals the lace doiley background I messed up on earlier!

Crop the image on photoshop and adjust the colors! I'm planning on making cards of these to sell at the school's holiday sale and give them away as gifts!

Whew what a productive Halloweek.

The Cure Show

This is a piece I made for The Cure Show happening in Grand Rapids during Art Prize. Hopefully I get in! Of course I wanted to use candy, commenting on the sickly sweet love songs The Cure put out which were most of their chart toppers. Robert Smith is either doom and gloom or coated in sugar. Still trying to think of a name for this one.

Moon Skull

Practicing the anatomy of a skull from reference. Made it into Sailor Moon for kicks.

Succubus love

More pastel from figure drawing, I completely changed the model pretty much only keeping her lighting and anatomy. The teacher put fairy wings on her but I didn't wanna draw a fairy so this was my solution lol. You can probably tell I was heavily inspired by Morrigan and Warcraft. I have another pastel piece from figure drawing that I'm working on outside of class, I made the model look like a geisha. I'll have pics of it up soon!

Practicing with pastel

Pastel is really hard for me to use but I'm trying to get better. I like how cubist this one turned out. The model was dressed as a pirate but mine looks more like a cowboy.

Some drawings from my summer figure drawing class

6 hours of figure drawing can be bleh...but I like most of what I've done so far.
Couldn't pass up drawing this lady's rainbow socks.
I call this one "Lisa Frank's Body"
My teacher decided to name him Zardoz

I really enjoy using colored pencil on toned paper! I put bunny ears on because I've had a thing for them lately without realizing Easter was coming up. Perfect timing lol. If you want a portrait like this done just send me a picture. They are 9" x 12" and I can do animals or humans. They will range from $45-50 in price. Message me if you want one!

Candy Daze

Here is my Candy Daze oil painting all finished! I'm going to frame it and enter it into the Muskegon Art Exhibit.

Sirens Wrestling Watercolor Painting

This is a big watercolor piece I did to start my portfolio heading in the sci-fi/fantasy direction. I learned a lot doing it about lighting and how much I need to work on it haha.

Sailor Moon Inspired Portrait

Quick watercolor and metallic paint portrait inspired by Sailor Moon. Funny story behind this, my aunt bought it, probably thinking it was an angelic portrait which, I suppose isn't too far off. Wish I had a better picture of this one.

Another old sketch I did in England inspired by the witch stories my dad used to tell me. I'll be scanning in my newer stuff when I get back from break!
